LEGENDARY MAGAZINE EDITOR, AUTHOR AND TV PRODUCER ELLIOTT WILSON LAUNCHES ULTIMATE ONLINE HIP-HOP WEBSITE, RAPRADAR.COM

by admin on February 24, 2009

(New York, NY—February 24, 2009) Magazine editor, content creator, blogger, published author, and television producer Elliott Wilson announced today the launch of RapRadar.com, a new, groundbreaking online website focused on delivering urban music, entertainment and lifestyle news.

As a popular commentator whose takes on hip hop, culture and race are notoriously impassioned and heavy handed, Wilson is the legendary former editor-in-chief of XXL magazine and founding editor of xxlmag.com, as well as the executive producer of VH-1’s highly-controversial ego trip’s Miss Rap Supreme and its equally provocative predecessor, ego trip’s The (White) Rapper Show. Wilson’s work has been published in XXL, VIBE and Rolling Stone among other publications since 1992 and he has remained one of the most influential voices in music and entertainment media for nearly two decades.

Created to fill a necessary void in the way hip hop news, feature stories and content is covered and delivered online, Rap Radar will feature a continuously updated blog which showcases Wilson’s infamous hard hitting, fresh and thought provoking point of view on the most buzz worthy topics in urban entertainment. The site will include exclusive Rap Radar interviews and videos as well as aggregation with attitude as Wilson provides biting, no-holds barred commentary on news. Whether it’s behind the scenes flip cam footage from high profile events, audio from local radio interviews with artists, informed insight into the most scandalous celebrity controversy, or posting and reviewing the latest records and music videos first, Wilson will stay on the pulse of documenting hip-hop culture at the tireless pace that today’s music fan demands.

“You have to adapt to the times if you still want to be a music journalist in this climate,” Wilson asserts. “With Rap Radar, I’ll be able to create some of my finest work. No one is as dedicated to documenting this culture as I am. This is not a job. It’s not even really a career. It’s my life.” On Wilson’s boisterous blog roll, he will also cover R&B music, gossip talk, paparazzi scenes, and sports. Rap Radar claims all things that are connected and related to hip-hop culture. With more wit and punch than Perez Hilton and as many connections as the Huffington Post can muster, Rap Radar is poised to become hip-hop’s defining destination.

Currently in beta, RapRadar.com will officially launch online on March 9th.

OFFICIAL STATEMENT BY AMARU ENTERTAINMENT REGARDING THE MORGAN CREEK LAWSUIT

by admin on February 23, 2009

We at Amaru Entertainment would like to clarify some of the recent media reports concerning a lawsuit filed by Morgan Creek Productions. This lawsuit has no merit. We felt it was important to bring the story of Tupac Shakur, one of music’s most remarkable icons, to life onscreen and, in realizing this vision, we sought to find the best partner who would be true to Tupac’s vision and bring his unique story to life on the big screen. In doing so, we have taken every step to ensure that our partner in this process is committed to the integrity of Tupac Shakur’s legacy and, more importantly, that they are the right people. To that end, we have been in discussions and negotiations with several major studios and production companies, including Morgan Creek Productions. However, at no time did we have an agreement with MorganCreek. Sadly, MorganCreek decided to take advantage of this situation and attempt to frustrate our project by interfering with our business relationships. We will not be frightened by MorganCreek’s tactics and we are absolutely confident that the movie will be produced and released. Tupac’s story is what Hollywood legends are made of - and we want to make sure that the movie tells Tupac’s story like it should be told and lives up to everyone’s expectations. “Tupac touched so many people in his brief life and it makes me feel honored in keeping his message alive. And I want to do so with integrity - in the right way with the right people,” says Afeni Shakur. “That’s what Tupac would have wanted.”

by admin on February 20, 2009

ITS GONNA BE ONE BAD MUTHA…SHUT YO MOUTH!

JOIN VH1 As IT CELEBRATES BLACK HISTORY MONTH WITH

THE PREMIERE OF VH1’s “BLACK TO THE FUTURE”

A 4-PART SPECIAL PREMIERING TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 24 - FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 27

AT 10PM* EACH NIGHT!

Hosted by Actor/Comedian David Alan Grier

NEW YORK, NY, FEBRUARY 19, 2009 - In celebration of Black History Month, the producers of VH1’s popular “I Love The” franchise present “Black to the Future,” a 4-part special celebrating the great contributions of African-Americans to pop culture. From “The Jeffersons” to the “Arsenio Hall Show,” from Barry White to Beyonce , and from the afro to the Jheri curl, each hour will revisit it all…from the most def to the most whack…from the 70s till now. In the famous words of Soul Train’s deep-voiced host Don Cornelius, “It’s going to be a stone-cold gas!” Don’t miss the trip!

Premiering on Tuesday, February 24 - Friday, February 27, at 10PM* each night, hosted by actor/comedian/producer David Alan Grier, VH1’s “Black to the Future” is a nostalgic journey of all people and things African-American — the music, the people, the movies, TV shows, products, fashions, fads, trends, scandals and events. VH1’s “Black To The Future” celebrates the black experience by honoring the days when “Roots” made American TV history, when Michael Jackson’s white glove became an instant fashion sensation, when Michael Jordan became the greatest basketball player on the planet, culminating with the election of America’s first African-American president, Barack Obama.

The tour guides on this hip trip through the decades are a humorous group of African-American comics, musicians, actors, including Nick Cannon, Method Man, Ice-T, Jesse Jackson, Bobby Brown, Sherri Shephard, Salt-N-Pepa, Chilli, Macy Gray, and Tommy Davidson to name a few as well as some of the popular favorites from “I Love The” series cast. They will address all the major issues, celebrate outstanding African-American personalities like Will Smith and Jesse Jackson and most importantly, tackle some unanswered questions posed throughout the decades, including: “What you talking bout Willis?” and “You down with “O.P.P?”

For additional footage not seen on-air as well as more info on VH1’s “Black to the Future” viewers can go online to VH1.com.

VH1’s “Black to the Future” is a production of VH1, with Karla Hidalgo, Shelly Tatro and Jeff Olde, serving as executive producers.

HIGHLY ANTICIPATED DEBUT ALBUM
IN A PERFECT WORLD…. IN STORES MARCH 24, 2009

SUPER PRODUCER TIMBALAND, POLOW DA DON AND DANJA PROVIDE PRODUCTION

(February 18, 2009 - Santa Monica, CA) Keri Hilson’s second single, “Turnin Me On,” lands at the number one spot at Urban Radio this week. The video peaked at number one on BET last week and has been one of the top ten videos for four consecutive weeks. Produced by Polow Da Don and featuring Lil Wayne, the song is also climbing up the pop chart. Hilson and Lil Wayne performed the song nightly as they toured the country together on the “I Am Music Tour”.

Nurtured between Timbaland’s Mosley Music Group and Polow’s Zone 4 Inc., In A Perfect World… boasts amazing sounds from a slew of hitmakers like Timbaland, Polow, and Danja. The album, which features guest appearances by Timbaland, Lil Wayne, Akon, Keyshia Cole, and Ne-Yo, will be released on MMG/Zone 4/Interscope and is set to arrive in stores on March 24, 2009. It’s a watershed moment that meets both goals-it sounds and feels great. Speaking up for all the ladies, In A Perfect World…also looks to empower women to be strong, independent and determined. “No human is exempt from the realities of life- heartbreak, failure, success…” Keri comments. This takes all forms throughout the album which reveals Keri’s ability to translate every day trials and tribulations into engaging music.

Hilson has received many accolades in the media, having graced the covers of Fader and Trace Magazine and has been championed in the pages of Rolling Stone, Blender, Vibe, Entertainment Weekly and Interview to name a few.
